years Job DescriptionThis position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to adult and pediatric patients by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms, and develop and implement patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.
Assess the patient throughout all phases of a procedure, from pre-procedure assessment through recovery.
Communicate considerations based on history and assessment to the physician.
Under the direction of a physician, perform moderate and deep sedation on patients per hospital policy.
Demonstrate critical thinking and time management in patient care.
Respond appropriately to emergencies.
Assess the patients condition and nursing needs, sets goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient, including discharge planning.
Assess, intervene, and reassess the patients self-report/symptoms of pain promptly.
Utilize an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment (0-10 numerical scale, FACES, or the FLACC.
)Demonstrate an understanding of medications with regards to action and side effects.
Report pertinent information to appropriate individual.
Educate patients and significant others about their medications.
Demonstrate the ability to evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.
Maintain the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing unit.
Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.
Maintain compliance with attendance and punctuality guidelines, and adhere to the dress code.
Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.
e.
physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, and/or nursing supervisor) and record those observations accurately and concisely.
Provide quality care to patients and work with multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.
May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.
Required QualificationsMissouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN.
When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
One (1) year of acute care or emergency room RN experience.
